Boatshed leading the way again
Three bold Boatshed offices (Chichester, Thames and Plymouth) are now officially Green Blue volunteers after attending a training session on the BMF/RYA's environmental initiative. And the presence of Phil, Rupert and Josh from Boatshed pushed the number of volunteers on the day into double figures which was much appreciated by the organisers.

The Green Blue volunteer scheme has been set up to encourage the sustainable use of coastal and inland waterways by boating and watersports participants and to help spread the message about environmentally friendly alternatives. Boatshed is the first commercial partner to sign up meaning that we will now be helping to wave the Green Blue flag at boat shows, at sailing clubs, in marinas, in chandlers and in the local media.

As responsible boaters, everyone at Boatshed is aware of their commitment to the environment and over the coming weeks we are going to be running a series of tried and tested on the old fashioned method of cleaning (such as bicarb of soda) versus off the shelf cleaning products. Results (and photographs) will be posted here so watch this space.

Katherine Rowberry, Development Officer at the Green Blue said, "We are delighted to welcome Boatshed as the first representative from the marine industry as Green Blue volunteers. The brokers from Boatshed will play an important role in promoting the aims and messages of The Green Blue to their customers and ultimately, the people who will be using our seas and waterways"

The Green Blue initiative is run by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. By taking a few simple steps, everyone can keep future costs down and sustain high quality water and local environments
